Tax Compliance, Inc. (TCI) held its 1999 PTMS User Conference at the luxurious Catamaran Resort Hotel in San Diego, California on October 20-22. The Catamaran Resort Hotel, extending along San Diego’s Mission Bay, offered a spectacular beachfront setting for the best received PTMS User Conference to date.
The Conference gave PTMS users three days of hands-on training away from the routine pressures and distractions that might otherwise interfere with the learning process. Guided by TCI staff, including PTMS software developers, each session generated a large amount of participation and enthusiasm among attendees. “I think the conference was one of the best organized, informational, yet fun events that I have ever attended,” said Michelle Sutton of Deloitte & Touche LLP.
The training schedule was consisted of classroom-style lectures interspersed with hands-on sessions. Attendees reported that preview lectures better prepared them for their hands-on sessions, allowing them to maximize their time spent working and learning on the computer. This year TCI also offered both novice and advanced training sessions. Bill Wilson of Solar Turbines, Inc. commented, “This was an excellent vehicle to solidify my training and to learn new methods to make my job easier.”
With more than 150 tax professionals in attendance, the Conference offered an excellent opportunity for the exchange of ideas and information. Attendees had direct access to TCI personnel for one-on-one meetings and additional instruction, and our development staff came away with a wealth of ideas for future enhancements to PTMS.
